When Is Black Friday 2026 in Canada?

Updated October 22, 2026 · How we work

Quick answer

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, November 27, and Cyber Monday follows on Monday, November 30. Canadian retailers set their own sale dates, and many start earlier or run longer, so confirm the dates on the retailer's own page.

The dates that matter in 2026

These are calendar facts. Individual retailers decide when their own sales begin and end.

How the date is set

Black Friday is the day after United States Thanksgiving, which falls on the fourth Thursday of November. In 2026 that Thursday is November 26. Cyber Monday is the Monday after.

Canadian Thanksgiving is a separate holiday held in October, so it does not move Black Friday. Black Friday is a retail tradition, not a statutory holiday in Canada.

Because the date moves, a page written for another year shows a different day. Black Friday was November 28 in 2025 and is November 27 in 2026.

Is Black Friday a holiday in Canada?

No. It is a retail event rather than a public holiday, so most workplaces and stores operate as usual and the shopping happens alongside normal working days.

Is Black Friday the same in Canada and the United States?

The date and the idea are the same, but the sales are not identical. Canadian retailers set their own offers, Canadian stores price in Canadian dollars, and some United States deals are not available to Canadian addresses or carry cross-border costs.

How early do Canadian Black Friday sales start, and how long do they last?

There is no single start time. Some retailers begin early deals in the weeks before, some run a full week, and some keep selected offers going after Cyber Monday. Online and in-store offers can also differ.

Treat any date you read, including on this page, as the calendar date of the event rather than a promise about a particular store. The retailer's product page shows the price and terms that actually apply.

What to do before November 27

Make a short list of what you actually plan to buy and note what each item costs now. A price you recorded in October is the most reliable way to judge a November discount.

Check the return window and delivery estimate on the retailer's page, because holiday orders can have different terms from the rest of the year.

Boxing Day and Boxing Week

Many Canadian retailers hold a second sale period after Christmas. Some products are discounted in both events and some in only one, so a good plan is to note the price after Black Friday and compare again in late December if you can wait.
