Editorial Standards: How We Work
Black Friday Deals Canada is an affiliate publisher: we help Canadian shoppers find deals and explain what to check before buying, and we earn a commission on some purchases made through our links. We do not sell products ourselves. This page sets out how we work so you can judge our content for yourself.
Who is behind this site
Charles Johnson, Founder & Editor
Black Friday Deals Canada is run by its founder and editor, who researches Canadian Black Friday, Cyber Monday and holiday deals, writes the buying guides and sets the site's editorial standards.

How deals get on the site
Deals are added in two ways: by us directly, or imported from the product data that affiliate retailers supply through their networks. Imported listings use the retailer's product name, price, image and description, and we label that description as coming from the retailer. We choose which retailers and categories to feature, and we may remove or expire a listing when the offer ends or no longer meets our standards.
What we show about prices
- The current price is the price the retailer or its feed supplied, in the currency shown.
- A regular price and a discount appear only when the retailer supplies a regular price higher than the current price. We calculate the percentage only from those two numbers.
- We show when we last checked a deal only where we have recorded it. A missing time means we have no record, not that the deal was checked today.
- We do not use price-history data, and we cannot promise that a listed price is the lowest available anywhere. Prices, stock and terms are set by retailers and can change after we publish.
Canadian dollars and Best Deals pages
Our Best Deals pages list only deals priced in Canadian dollars. Deals priced in another currency, such as US dollars, are labelled with that currency and are never shown as if they were Canadian prices.
How Best Deals pages are ordered
Within a page, deals are ordered by a badge where we have set one, then by the discount where a retailer's regular price is listed, then by how recently we checked the deal, then by price. Commission rates are not an input. A “top pick” or “best value” label appears only when enough deals match and the data supports it, and it compares only the deals on that page.
How our guides are written
Our guides are general information for Canadian shoppers, not financial or legal advice. Each shows the date it was last revised. We avoid statistics we cannot source and we link to official sources, such as the Canada Border Services Agency, where rules matter. Where policies differ by retailer, we tell you to check the retailer's current terms instead of guessing.
How we are paid
When you buy through some links on this site we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That does not change the price you pay. See our affiliate disclosure for details.
